Fresh and piquant, with lemony flavors on the clear and flinty nose opens the 2014 Riesling trocken Kahlenberg from pebbly loess and loam soils. This is a juicy and round, almost creamy textured and perfectly balanced, elegant and relaxed Riesling with a lovely salinity in the finish. The Kahlenberg ripens a week earlier than the vineyards in Oberhausen and Niederhausen, and Helmut Dönnhoff is very happy with the 2014 result. “We had to pick this vineyard earlier than we had planned, but today I have to say we could not have done it much better. It’s the finest Kahlenberg we have bottled so far. It took me ten years to understand this vineyard that can easily bring too ripe fruit.”
