Of the three appellation bottlings I tasted from 2014, the 2014 Oro Malbec Appellation Gualtallary felt the oakiest, with plenty of smoke and dark spice aromas and also black fruit notes. The palate revealed lots of creamy oak flavors and a dusty texture, partly from the soil, but I’m afraid also possibly from the élevage. Maybe with more time in bottle? 3,250 bottles were filled in September 2016.
