The flagship 2005 Pesus comes from an 82-year-old Tempranillo parcel blended with a dollop of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Super fragrant, it sports a perfume of pain grille, pencil lead, mineral, spice box, incense, black cherry, and blueberry that is breathtaking in its complexity. Dense, voluptuous, and sexy, this impressive effort will evolve for 10-15 years and provide pleasure through 2035.

Jesus Sastre is winemaker and vineyard manager of Vina Sastre, one of Ribera del Duero’s finest estates. The vineyard is organically farmed with biodynamic principles. The 2007 Roble was reviewed in Issue 181.
