While it’s mostly closed at this stage, there is a return to that almond meal/oatmeal/white peach form I see the Toldpuddle vineyard in possession of. This 2015 Chardonnay is streamlined and tense, with a luxuriant array of stone fruits and plentiful, briny acidity. The phenolics in this wine (and this is the first time I have mentioned phenolics in the lineup starting oldest to youngest), have a polish and gloss to them, but they have a little bit of chew and bounce, which I love. Almost glassy in its expression, this is pure, gorgeous, scintillating Tasmanian wine.
