Review by: Robert Parker
Wine Advocate: Issue 157, February 2005
Rating: 91-93 POINTS
Notes of pepper, dried herbs, damp earth, sweet cherry liqueur, and chocolate-infused coffee jump from the glass of the 2003 Merlot (96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc). Production was less than in 2002, with 9,315 cases made. It is a big, dense, full-throttle Merlot that should age nicely for 10-15 years. This is a top-flight single-vineyard wine aged completely in French oak, which is in total contrast to the wines made at Silver Oak.
